How does con moto prosthetics differ from a standard prosthetics practice?

con moto is not a brick and mortar prosthetics clinic. We do not fit or deliver prosthetic devices, nor do we operate out of a prosthetics lab. The service we provide is to aid the prosthetics profession and the allied health field with education and resources. We are the company to go to for objective answers and can answer the more complex questions. We can offer training services to your clinical staff. We understand that many professionals who work with amputees do not know where to turn for resources and information on what is best for their client. con moto is here for you.

Who are con moto’s customers?

Our customer base ranges from case managers seeking professional guidance for their client’s prostheses, to performing case reviews to attorney’s seeking expert witness testimony, to aiding prosthetists and therapists with fittings and therapy goals. We serve allied health professionals requiring coaching and advisory services, manufacturers seeking clinical input, as well as other professionals seeking answers. If you have questions or a prosthetics problem, we can solve it.

Why should I hire con moto?

Prostheses are expensive – 5 to 6 figure expensive. The prosthetic fitting process can be confusing and difficult to navigate, if not given the proper tools and resources to make informed decisions. For new prosthetic patients, there is a learning curve. There is new terminology and expectations that each patient needs to understand to be successful and achieve their goals. con moto can help navigate this change, and put your client or patient on the path for success.

Each individual is different, and each prosthesis is built and designed according to a multitude of factors particular to each patient. What works for one patient may not work for another. con moto is here to solve these problems. We are the premier prosthetics and amputee consulting service for professionals and amputees looking for answers. We are a full-service company whose sole mission is to provide education and resources to the allied health community and their patients. We do not have a financial stake in particular manufacturers and devices. Our primary concern is that of each individual prosthetic patient – so they may continue to live their life with motion.

In what areas of prosthetics do you specialize?

We take pride in our ability to assess and evaluate all upper and lower limb devices on the market. We have experience with every upper extremity system, including myoelectric, hybrid and body-powered. This includes multi-articulating hands (Touchbionics iLimb, RSL Steeper Bebionic, Otto Bock Michelangelo), and pattern recognition control system (COAPT). We have vast knowledge of lower limb micro-processor components and manufacturers including Otto Bock C-Leg, Genium, X3, Freedom Plié, and Ossur Rheo knees.  We have proficiency in all socket styles and suspension systems, including elevated vacuum, sub-ischial and anatomical styles.

Why would I hire a consultant when I could obtain the same information from my local prosthetics company and have them make the device?

If you are looking for a prosthetist to fit your client with a prosthesis, visiting the local prosthetist should be your first step. Your local prosthetist can provide you with an evaluation and help design the prosthesis to fit your needs. Prostheses are expensive – similar to buying a car or even a house – but in many ways it is even more important to your quality of life and continued independence.

What sets con moto apart is that we specialize in education and clinical support. With years of experience in providing education to the medical community and supervising prosthetic residents, con moto embraces spreading knowledge, and is committed to growing and advancing the profession through education.

If you are a prosthetist or therapist and are faced with a clinical problem, you can turn to con moto.

In addition to our expertise in preparing education, case review, and device evaluation we offer independent, third-party insights into your case and may raise questions that you may not have thought to ask.

I just need someone to look at a prosthesis, can you do that?

Absolutely! We are happy to provide a complete analysis of your prosthesis and determine how or if adjustment, or perhaps, new components might improve your mobility.

What are care and case review deliverables?

In general, projects include a complete and thorough report that describes our findings, analysis and recommendations. Depending on the project, other deliverables will be included, as required. These deliverables will be defined in the project proposal or added in subsequent modifications to the scope as the project progresses.

Do you perform consultation via the phone and Web, or are site visits required?
